Most travel insurance policies do not cover the extra costs caused by airline baggage delays or missed water taxi connections. That means if your luggage arrives late or your flight gets in after BVI Customs closes, you'll be left to handle extra expenses and logistics on your own. Dolphin Travel Insurance is designed specifically to protect the water taxi portion of your trip—giving you peace of mind that we'll step in to handle baggage delivery or overnight arrangements if the unexpected happens.
If you have purchased additional travel insurance for your BVI vacation, please confirm it would cover the cost of an overnight hotel stay on St thomas and more importantly your next-morning water taxi replacement if the flight you're on is delayed to the extent that we cannot get you into the BVI that night(usually past 5:30 p.m.).
IMPORTANT REMINDER: If your flight is canceled the same day, or if you miss a connection, or the airline is otherwise late and lands after 6:00 p.m., we are unable to get you into the BVI, as customs there would be closed for entry. The arrival portion of your travel is only 50% refundable as a no-show for those reasons. Trip interruption insurance will cover the costs associated with a misconnect or major delay, so in those instances the replacement water taxi the next day would be covered by the insurance.
